Nephi update

Last night was LONG. He slept in my bed and wanted to toss and turn. But alas - he had to sleep flat on his back. I gave him Tylenol w/codeine at 10:30 last night and then at 5 a.m. He is propped up on my bed eating oatmeal watching a movie. At least that will distract him for a little while. I wonder what time the orthopedic dr. office is open to make an appointment....

Update...Nephi has an appointment tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. at the Ortho/Fracture clinic. Maybe he can get some relief now. He is in some serious pain.

About that kitchen surgical procedure....

It really was a "surgical" procedure....
My dad had to take apart the element before it would come apart. Unfortunately it wasn't one of those pull straight jobs. Luckily he is here.

Then this happens....

If you read the next post down - you will see that today Sunday is turning out not so well. At least for some people in our family. Take Nephi for instance....he likes to climb the doorway of the bedroom and jump. Well he jumped all right. So did his bones. He has a nasty spiral fracture down his calf and is in a splint right now. The ER gave me Tylenol with codeine for him so he can rest comfortably. In the next couple days we will be taking a trip to Portland to see the orthopedic surgeon for a cast. I will update him as I find out more. For now he will camp out on my bed as Russell is gone. That way I can help him in the night.
Poor little guy.

Surgical procedure

If you read my recipe blog you will know I like to set my bowls on the stove top for the dough to rise. Well - I did the usual again today. However - I started smelling something funny. I noticed the dough was rising faster than normal. One son even pointed out the dough looked ready to him. Well it was all right. I went to pick the bowl up. And as you can see - the bottom wasn't there anymore.

It is firmly attached to the burner. Apparently I turned the burner on. No mistaking about it. (sheepish grin)
This will require disposing of the burner and tray underneath. I tried prying off the plastic. It's firmly "glued" to the burner. Hooray for a "surgical procedure" in the kitchen! :)
**Don't try this at home.

Let's go back to talk about the dough I made into rolls. They've been in the oven for a while now. I keep checking and wonder why they aren't done. The oven is warm. I am confused. I look over and notice someone (either me or one my many helpers) turned the oven off. ?????? Apparently we don't want dinner tonight. Can I join you underground Ellie? I don't think I can take this topside living any more. :)

What do YOU do on a rainy August day?

Well....
If you are Donovan...
You meet your Scoutmaster at 6 a.m. for a 25 mile bike hike. Even in the rain. At least it is warm outside!
Here they come! (Donovan is wearing the blue on the left)
Hi Donovan!
There they go....

I just love this picture! The beach...it's the place to be!

I think this was in 2004. It was Nephi's first trip to the beach. The boys were all so little! My have they grown.

Meet the Parents...Russell and Candace

Meet the Parents...Russell and Candace
It all started for us when Russell left for Cape Town South Africa on a mission. Candace felt inspired to write him - so she did! We wrote for 3 1/2 years. Candace came home from her mission to the Texas Houston East Mission and we dated for 5 months. We married in July 1994 and have been happy ever after!
