My weekly progress report...

I have decided to make a weekly progress report for my walking. Today is Monday. I walked 4.4 miles.
I feel a lot like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz when she has to cross the poppy field. The poppies remind me of the rainy weather we have been having here in Tillamook. Let's see how fast we can get a walk in before we get poured on kind of thing comes to mind. Luckily it was just a sprinkle today.

Today is Wednesday. I walked 3 miles. I am happy to say it only took an hour! Woohoo!

Today is Friday! I walked 3 miles around town. It took me less than hour in the pouring rain! I have completed my goal for the week. My goal is 10 miles a week. I accomplished 10.4 miles total!

Goal update...

If I have a goal...I need to be accountable somewhere. I feel like my blog is a good place to do this. My last post talked about my goal of walking. Here is my update...
Last week I walked 8 miles. My goal was 10 miles so I felt good about what I accomplished.
This week so far I've walked 6.4 miles.
I have noticed I don't tire out as easily as I did when I started. This must mean I am doing something right! There are many different routes I can take depending on the workout I want. These routes range anywhere from fairly flat to extreme hills.

A new goal....

I started walking 2-3 weeks ago. My favorite route is 3.5 miles long. I like to drop the car off at Russell's place where he meets to car pool and walk home from there. So far this week....I've walked 7 miles! Only 3.5 more to go. I am trying to walk 3 times a week. Mainly from town to home.

Happy Mother's Day!

My life has been filled with lots of amazing women. These women are my moms, mother-in-law, grandmothers, great-grandmothers, aunts, cousins, sisters, sisters-in-law, missionary companions and friends. Thank you for your examples and for all the things I've learned from each of you. You have each touched my life in different ways and I thank you this Mother's Day.

3rd Grade Science Fair....

Over the past month and a half or so Michael has been working hard on his science fair project. He chose to make a telegraph machine and find out how many people recognized the S.O.S. signal. Yesterday was the culmination of all the 3rd grade projects. Last week and earlier this week they presented to their respective classrooms. Yesterday they were judged. Michael has a red 2nd place ribbon on his project. I am so proud of him! It was fun taking the pictures for him while Russell helped here and there to build the actual telegraph. Well done Michael!

Some friendships never die...

Late yesterday afternoon I was busily preparing dinner and chatting with the boys about their school day. Then the phone rang. We have caller ID and Donovan looked over and said "I don't know anyone from Virginia. I'm not answering it."
I know a few people in Virginia so picked up the phone. On the other end was a dear friend who has a VA phone number but lives in Florida! I haven't talked to her in about 25 years! The last memory I have of her is we are sitting in our home room visiting at the end of our 8th grade year. We were just waiting for school to get out for the summer.
It's so nice to have friends that last through the years. As we were visiting over the phone we reminisced about our Young Women days. We talked about a particular leader that we had. She still keeps in contact with her so asked her to pass along a hello from me.
I was so happy to get that phone call out of the blue. It's nice to know some friendships can be picked up right where we left off. Even after 25 years.

I just love this picture! The beach...it's the place to be!

I just love this picture! The beach...it's the place to be!
I think this was in 2004. It was Nephi's first trip to the beach. The boys were all so little! My have they grown.

Meet the Parents...Russell and Candace

Meet the Parents...Russell and Candace
It all started for us when Russell left for Cape Town South Africa on a mission. Candace felt inspired to write him - so she did! We wrote for 3 1/2 years. Candace came home from her mission to the Texas Houston East Mission and we dated for 5 months. We married in July 1994 and have been happy ever after!
