If you read my recipe blog you will know I like to set my bowls on the stove top for the dough to rise. Well - I did the usual again today. However - I started smelling something funny. I noticed the dough was rising faster than normal. One son even pointed out the dough looked ready to him. Well it was all right. I went to pick the bowl up. And as you can see - the bottom wasn't there anymore.
It is firmly attached to the burner. Apparently I turned the burner on. No mistaking about it. (sheepish grin)
This will require disposing of the burner and tray underneath. I tried prying off the plastic. It's firmly "glued" to the burner. Hooray for a "surgical procedure" in the kitchen! :)
**Don't try this at home.
Let's go back to talk about the dough I made into rolls. They've been in the oven for a while now. I keep checking and wonder why they aren't done. The oven is warm. I am confused. I look over and notice someone (either me or one my many helpers) turned the oven off. ?????? Apparently we don't want dinner tonight. Can I join you underground Ellie? I don't think I can take this topside living any more. :)

Darned if you do, and darned if you don't, I guess.
Home Depot sells the replacement parts for lots of things like that, or at least they used to.
Don't ask me how I know that. ;-)
i'd love to be able to say i've never done anything like that and don't know how you feel. alas, i can't. i've done worse. first the dough, then the dinner, then nephi. amazing how many things can go wrong at once. well, bad things come in 3's, so we'll assume the new day will bring a streak of better luck - and maybe even three good things. hugs to you. and re "underground": maybe we should just go ahead an build out a full-blown bunker.
I put the dough to rise on the woodstove last winter- yes, with the woodstove burning hot as can be. Burnt plastic doesn't smell so good! I think you need a break :-)
I like that bunker idea!!
